Important change for all visa applications!

As of 17 December 2019, the visa application must be done in person by the applicant, due to the fact that fingerprints have to be provided.

The following are exempted:

People under the age of 14 or over the age of 70, Holders of diplomatic passports and people that are exempted under bilateral agreements, People that apply for a Chinese visa whose fingerprints have already been collected by the Chinese Visa Application Service Center (CVASC) in the past 5 years, if those people are still using the same passport as before (when applying, people must show the biometric visa in the same passport).

Applicants who suffer from ten finger mutilation or whose fingerprints cannot be collected or retained.

This means that fingerprints that have been collected on arrival at the airport in recent years, do not count.
This also means that when someone applies with a new passport, he or she must go to the CVASC again.
Please take into account that there will be a few extra days of processing time, on top of the regular 4 day procedure.

Tourist Visa

A tourist visa suffices when one travels to China for recreational purposes. A single entry visa is the standard. A double entry visa is only possible when one can prove that the double entry visa is a necessity.

Applicants that do not have a Dutch nationality, but who are EU nationals, can apply via the Chinese Consulate in The Hague for their visa provided that they live and/or are employed in the Netherlands. Applicants with a non-EU nationality require a double-sided copy of the residence permit and additional documents may be required.

Documents to be submitted:

- Assignment form.

- A fully filled-in and printed online application form. Please note that you will need a scanned passphoto with a completely white background. You also have to attach the actual photo (the physical version of the photo you used). The Consulate only accepts your application when the used passphoto has been qualified when completing the on-line application form. An overview of the passhoto requirements can be found here.After filling out and printing the form and signing the form in 2 different places (on the first page and the 8th page, section 8.1) an appointment has to be made on the website of the CVASC.

- Consent Form. Completed and signed

- Passport must be valid for at least 6 months after expiration of the required visa with at least 2 blanc pages besides each other.
- 1 Most recent colored passport photo (mouth closed) in colour with a white background. Important: Only use glue stick to affix photo!

- Copy of information page of the passport of the applicant.

- Non Dutch citizens: Visa application is only possible if the applicant lives and/or works in the Netherlands. Applicants must add statement employer/double sided copy of their residence permit or residence certificate.

- Self-employed applicants must provide a recent (< 3 months) extract of the Chamber of Commerce (Kamer van Koophandel) in English language which must clearly state the name of the applicant and confirmation of VAT return issued by the Dutch Tax Authority (Belastingdienst).
- Employed applicants must provide a statement issued by the employer which must be written in English and printed on company letterhead paper and state the applicant’s job title and indicate the employer’s contact details. Also the statement should indicate the starting date of the working contract.

- Booking confirmation of flights or a copy of the e-ticket.

- Hotel booking confirmation for all nights of staying in China.

- If you have visited Turkey, please provide a statement written in English in which you explain why you visited Turkey.

Business visa

A business visa is necessary when you are planning a business-related visit to a China-based organization on behalf of a company. For a business visa, an invitation/PU letter from a Chinese organization is needed.

Necessary documents:

- Assignment form.

- A fully filled-in and printed online application form.

- Consent Form. Please note that you will need a photo with a completely white background.

- You also have to attach the actual photo (the physical version of the photo). The Consulate only accepts your application when the used passphoto has been qualified when completing the on-line application form. An overview of the passhoto requirements can be found here
- After filling out and printing the form and signing the form in 2 different places (on the first page and the 8th page, section 8.1) an appointment has to be made via the website of the Service Centre.
- A pasport photo.

- Passport that will be valid for at least 6 more months, after the visa has expired.

- Copy of passport

- Employed applicants must provide an employer’s statement in English.

- Self-employed applicants: Self-employed applicants must provide a recent (< 3 months) extract of the Chamber of Commerce (Kamer van Koophandel) in English language which must clearly state the name of the applicant and confirmation of VAT return issued by the Dutch Tax Authority (Belastingdienst).

- Booking confirmation of flights or a copy of the e-ticket

- Hotel booking confirmation for all nights of staying in China.

- Invitation letter from inviting company in China with official stamp and signature from company representative.

- ‘Business License‘ (statutes / founding act from the chamber of commerce in in China) of the inviting party in China. The company name on the ‘Business License’ should correspond with the company name on the invitation.

- If you have visited Turkey, please provide a statement written in English in which you explain why you visited Turkey.

Additional requirements for multiple entry:

- Copy of 3 business visa or 1 business year-visa, all issued in the past year with a minimum of 3 entry and exit stamps.

- For a multiple entry visa application with a duration of 1 year, a minimum of 3 (real or fictional) planned trips in the following year have to be included in the invitation.

- If you do not work for a multinational corporation, you have to provide a copy of the company information page of the company’s website. The consulate will use this to assess if a multiple entry visa can be issued.

Note: Applicants for multiple-entry visa can be requested to show up in person for an interview. Please take into account the possibility of a longer processing time. Applicants with a non-EU nationality require additional a double-sided copy of the residence permit and additional documents may be required.
